Meet the lovely Venus of Willendorf, I fell in love with this little figurine and have been carrying a version of it carved in stone around with me so I decided to carve one of my own and cast it in bronze. To me she pays homage to the beautiful feminine figure, the original, although it’s hard to say, could been a figure of fertility. It is the oldest object d’art known dating at approximately 25,000 - 30,000 BCE. The original was found in Willendorf, Austria and was carved in limestone. I just love the way she fits in my hand, with a bit of heft and watches over me - now she can watch over you too! The figure measures approx 2”x1” and cast in bronze and hangs on a leather cord (if you are vegan I have a beautiful cord which I use for my crystals and looks beautiful braided).
